A Day Off....

Today is an odd sort of day. It is saturday. for those of you who have absolutely no concept of my life, and why would you? Saturdays are usually my busiest day of the week as I am normally getting ready for work. As we all know most people have off on Saturdays, so we are kept on our toes in there. Today, is our Young Men/Young Women's annual beach clean-up. So, in a stroke of genius we closed down the store. Yay us!!! No worries, we warned our customers several weeks ago that we would be closing today. They all understood and came in early. You've got to love the country folk!!! So, instead of working we will be heading out to the beach later on this day and spending the entire day and evening there. It will be fun as the kids will have a ton of friends to hang out with and totally enjoy the sunshine and great California weather. Don't worry, I will have my trusty camera with me and will be documenting the day. Have a each worthy day all!!!!

Glorious morning...

For those of you who are not living in the immediate area, you may not understand the bliss of a morning where you are not sweating to death, panting and dehydrated...and that is just waking up!!! This morning was that morning. In the last post I was so excited because of the hot wind. Guess what?! The wind died down last night as we laid in bed waiting for the cooling effect to take over our house. Nothing!!! I held my hand up to the screen above my head and it felt cool. I fell asleep easily letting my tired bones sink into the mattress. This morning...waking up on my own...I felt that cool air all over the house. Hopefully, that means no grumpy kids... we shall see in about 30 minutes. It will be a blissful day. The heat lamps have been turned off for the time being and that means our customers will find their way out to shop today. That is good all around!!!

Have a fabuloso day!!!

One Watermelon...Two Watermelon...Three...Four...Five!!! Plus one makes 5 1/2

Fabulous news today...As we exited the store we felt that glorious hot wind kicking up. Now, why would that be a sign for celebration?! Of course, you know that with that incredibly blustering wind surrounding us was a sign of the coolness returning to the night. I AM GOING TO SLEEP TONIGHT!!! Wahoo!!!! You can't see my happy dance kicking in right now.

Before sleepy time could kick in though we had our list of things to do. First off was dinner and then return Bryan's backpack and brace for a fight with the manager since my receipt was non-existant. As it turns out the manager was more than willing to help and looked up our receipt from Monday and made a copy of it for us in case anyhting else happened. I was thrilled that we had such an easy time of it. Thank you Scott!!! From there we stopped by a fruit stand to pick up soem watermelons for the beach. The sweet little hispanic couple selling them told us $6 per watermelon. it was more than a fair price so we agreed and I paid them. They then ahggled with themselves to give us a better deal wince we were taking all five. We insisted that they stick to the original bargain since it was a fair deal. In the end they gave us an extra watermelon to enjoy. Afterwards we dropped off the kids...and watermelons at the house and took off to the grocery store. We did all of our shopping and asked the checker to bag three bags with paper so we could reuse them to recover the kids' schoolbooks. Instead they bagged them all in plastic and then packed away 6 bags...unused...for us to use later. As we unpacked I excused myself to the restroom and when I returned my oldest put away all the groceries so we could go swimming to cool off one last time while it was cooling off. Needless to say, it was a great day!!!!

I hoipe you all have a great day as well!!!

In the car this morning...

As you can imagine my kids, hubby and I are on edge. We went swimming at 9:30 last night just to cool off before bedtime and the kids went to sleep in their wet swimsuits. So,this morning of course they are dead tired and are feeling sluggish and icky after enduring the heat of yesterday. Side note, they only endured the heat at bedtime as they were kept busy with homework here at the store and then went swimming right before we came home and went out to eat and to the mall for Daddy's birthday. So, I shuttled them off to school and we decided to pick up a couple bagels for breakfast. As we are driving we hear, on the radio, a commercial for real California milk. They are basically saying that we need to drink milk from California rather than from other states. There is one catch...the women talking on the commercial have New York accents. In the words of my daughter when she was three: "WHAT THE HECKIE?!" Sure, try to convince me to spend my money on local business when you have a couple of New yorkers talking!!! Grand idea!!! Am I overreacting or does that make sense in some sort cosmic funky way? My brain could be as melted as the candles on my wall from two years ago when we had the worst heat wave in history.
